  • Ode to a Show About Nothing

I’ve wanted to do a Seinfeld caricature for years now, since college, but I was too lazy about it. I knew that if I was to do it right it would have to have a detailed background of Jerry’s apartment. So I’m glad I finally got around to it!

Seinfeld was in its early years when I was in art school and it’s pretty much the best sitcom ever. I remember looking forward to watching it with my dad every Thursday. My wife and I have been watching it again on Hulu and it feels even more relevant now that I am older.

Hope you enjoy some of the references from the whole series! I’ll post some details of the whole thing later… yada yada yada.

  • Bob Ross

Everyday’s a good day when you paint! I think it was appropriate to come out of my oil painting hiatus with a caricature of Bob Ross. I followed along one of paintings and it is harder than it looks, he was so good at what he did. His positive & easygoing teaching style is an inspiration and the world is a happier little place because of it.

  • It’s a Wonderful Life Aquatic!

One of my favorite movies was released 10 years ago this Christmas- The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I did this illustration for Seattle Weekly prior to the release and got some of the colors wrong.

  • Mean Girls 10th Anniversary is Today!

    Mean Girls

I created this illustration for the 10th anniversary of Mean Girls on April 30th (today.) It is one of those movies that I always seem to be quoting. Tina Fey wrote the screenplay, so naturally, Mean Girls is filled with great lines. The story has an ‘Animal Farm’-like plot where the protagonist sets out to fight the system of the corrupt (Mean Girls), but in turn becomes a mean girl herself. Even though the movie is female-centric, I think we can all relate to the wild world that is found in high school… and beyond!
