Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and Mermay all in one freaky sketch!

I am heartbroken by the passing of Carrie Fisher, I still can’t believe she is gone.

I got retweeted by Carrie Fisher!! Princess Leia approves! 😉

Yesterday was Carrie Fisher’s birthday and as I went to post about it on Instagram, I realized that I had illustrated Princess Leia many, many times. Which makes sense as I’m a huge Star Wars fan and the princess is one of the best characters. I have illustrated her in her famous gold bikini, with the hair buns, and on a Keep A Breast cast. I also have done a few caricatures of people as Princess Leia. I’m pretty sure this makes her my most drawn character!
Here are just some of my Princess Leia incarnations:

Chewbacca is probably my favorite Star Wars character, which is tough to say because there are so many great creatures, droids, and humans in the saga! He’s just a loyal presence and he knows how to get things done. So I thought I’d make an illustration of the big guy taking a break for once- relaxing on the beach, getting a tan. That’s where I like to go when I need a break. But of course, Chewie’s work is never done as you can see he still is keeping a watchful eye on Princess Leia in the background. Wrrruugggghhhhh!
I colored another one of my Sketch of the Days!

I started working on my fifth cast for Keep A Breast as part of their mantra series: Art. Education. Awareness. Action. For this cast I decided to use one of my favorite subjects to convey ACTION: Star Wars. This cast is the second from a Keep A Breast charity event. At the event Keep A Breast Traveling Education Booth was onsite with some limited cause merchandise available. This event was quite special because they did a LIVE CASTING with two of San Diego’s finest ladies, Claudia Miranda and Christie Burns. This ACTION cast is of Christie.
