Giada De Laurentiis – one of my first digital illustrations, a transition from oil paints. I tweeted it to Giada and she replied “LOL! Boy I have a BIG head!”

Wow 26 years ago today The Wonder Years premiered on tv! One of the best shows of all time!

I created this illustration last year to celebrate the 25th year of the premier right after my wife and I did a marathon of the entire series. It was such a great show and it still holds up in relevance to this day.

It was also an honor to have my illustration and sketch re-Tweeted by all three main cast members: Fred Savage, Danica McKellar, and Josh Saviano!

  • Portlandia Guest Tweets

I was picked to run the Twitter account for IFC’s hilarious sketch comedy show Portlandia, for a week! My guest tweets ran from Jan 11th – 17th. I got to run some arts & crafts contests and asked the natives about Portland. My wife helped me think up some of these fun projects and we got to give DVDs to the winners. It was a great opportunity to bond with the fans of such a creative show. IFC extended this Portlandia Co-op project to guest tweeters during the run of their third season.

My highlight of the week was when Carrie Brownstein responded to one of my questions. I also received word that Fred Armisen enjoyed the arts & crafts contests. Everyone behind Portlandia’s Twitter account was very supportive of this project, the people at IFC, Fred & Carrie, and the awesome Jenny McCoy, who usually runs the account. They even gave me a bike as a gift for tweeting!

As part of the Portlandia Twitter fun I posted sketches of my favorite characters all week. Here is my colored illustration of “We Can Pickle That”, one of their catchy skits in the vein of “Put A Bird On It”.

You can read more about Portlandia’s Co-op project and my Q & A on their blog: www.ifc.com/shows/portlandia/blog/2013/01/meet-the-portlandia-co-op
