20 Years and Beyond
Two years ago, my wife and I set up a little art studio and shop in downtown Woodbury, NJ. Since then, I have created hundreds of canvas paintings while doing my best Bob Ross impression for parties and classes of all sorts. It’s been a lot of fun, and I’ve picked up new techniques along the way.
Last year we celebrated my 20-year artist retrospective by hanging a number of pieces in our gallery. The show, ‘Making Faces,’ then traveled to the Dr. Ross Beitzel Art Gallery at Rowan College at Gloucester County. It was rewarding to see the illustrations–many from alt newspapers and magazines–and how they fit together in different themes over all those years.
The exhibitions made me realize how much I had missed painting famous faces and pop-culture portraits for the pure pleasure of it, and I began completing a bunch of sketches I had been working on in the past few years. I pulled from my ‘Sketch-of-the-Day’ series and finished painting a handful of doodles: some painted in oils and many painted digitally.
