I don’t have any brothers and I can’t say Barry Goldberg is like any of my family members. My younger sister had dark curly hair when she was a kid, but that’s about the extent of any similarities. Barry is a middle child like me, but his confidence and charisma are something I have always wanted but never quite had. I think Barry has hilarious observations and some of the best lines on the show. JTP!

Erica Goldberg
In high school, my older sister was a lot like Erica Goldberg: cool, stylish, & popular. She still is! She would call me a dork and could beat me up if she wanted to, but if anyone else tried to do the same she would be right there to stick up for me. Gina introduced me to so much great music back then too, like The Cure and The Smiths, both bands of which have been represented by Erica on the show. I love that Erica has gone through a nerdy phase as well. Now she is cool & confident but deep down we know she still loves Star Wars!

Adam Goldberg
As a child of the 80s, I can relate a lot to Adam Goldberg. I was totally into Voltron, Thundercats, Star Wars… all that geeky stuff! Like Adam, I was also not into sports- I would rather draw or play with toys in my room. And when I did go outside to play, I would wander the entire neighborhood observing creatures big and small. I think that was my yearning for photography before I even had a camera. In high school my friends and I always had a video camera on hand, making lots of meaningless movies.

Beverly Goldberg (Happy Smother’s Day!)
Even if you didn’t grow up in the Philadelphia area in the 80s, The Goldbergs is an awesome show! My family lived in Willow Grove, just two towns away from Jenkintown, where The Goldbergs takes place. We lived there until about 1984 when we moved to Ocean City but I still have vivid memories of that area. I remember when the Willow Grove Park Mall was brand new! My mom would take us clothes shopping there and my favorite part was getting Chipwiches from the ice cream stand inside.
I love that The Goldbergs captures the 80s so well and every character is hilarious in their own way. That’s why I decided to illustrate each one of them separately, starting with my favorite character: Beverly Goldberg. I hope to have these Smother’s Day cards available by the end of the week. They are perfect for Mother’s Day or any day!

Adam Goldberg Sketch
I find it excusable that Adam is supposed to be from Philly but has a Midwest accent, it suits the kid.

Big Lebowski- WIP
Almost done with the linework. I can’t decide if I should add Maude or Jesus or anyone else that might tie the room together, man. Thoughts?

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was my favorite movie in middle and high school. I remember seeing it at the Point 4 with my dad and ever since I wanted to be like Ferris (who didn’t?) even though I was more of a Cameron. There are so many classic lines to the movie that I can’t pick just one. What’s your favorite? Bonus points if you can name the artists who’s paintings are on the wall.
