Champagne & Tater Tots
Erin and I have been going through my old clayboard paintings from the early 2000s. I used to love to paint on clayboard as it was a smooth, quick-drying surface. Now most of my work is done in Photoshop, which is a different kind of fun and takes up much less space. I used oils at the time because acrylics dried too fast. I also painted in blue & white instead of black & white because we learned in art school that you shouldn’t even own black paint- you’re supposed to mix it. So I will dub these paintings my ‘Blue Period.’

The Strokes pre-9/11
From the vault: an illustration for The Philadelphia Weekly of The Strokes just two months before 9/11. I remember I bought the album for ‘research’ and really liked it. Then after Sept 11 they repackaged it and took out the song ‘New York City Cops’ to show respect for the men in blue. http://
